BDM Cables

P&E's units provides access to the Background Debug Mode (BDM) on the basic ColdFire microprocessor. Compatible with MCF52xx, MCF53xx, and MCF54xx families of microcontrollers we have  both parallel and USB cables that act as the hardware interface between an IBM PC and a 26 pin background debug header on the target system.  All cables the Cyclone Max & the Lightning card are supported by P&E's software.  If you are using P&E cables with other manufacturers debuggers/compilers then consult them for support status. 

USB Multilink interfaces to USB ports and runs on W98, W2K, ME and XP PCs.  This is both fast and convenient. It draws power from USB interface so no separate power supply is used. One cable handles target voltages of 1.8V-5.5V		CableCF uses the PCs parallel port (DB25 female connector) A separate version of the CableCF is available for 3v and 5v targets.  Unlike the other P&E cables this unit plugs directly into the target header.  If your board is unusually crowded or hard to get too you may wish to purchase the optional 9" CFextension.

Cyclone Max Interface

This box will connect a PC via Ethernet, USB or Serial port to a PPC 5xx,  8xx, 55xx (Nexus),  ColdFire,or a MAC71xx,72xx (ARM).  It can be used as a Debugger or as a Flash programmer under manual or automatic control.  It can even be disconnected from the PC and used as a standalone Flash programmer.  If you are developing applications for any ( or indeed all ) of these Freescale devices it is the only CPU specific hardware development tool you will ever need to buy

The MCF5213 Evaluation Kit

This is an ideal evaluation kit to get you started developing both Hardware and Software aspects of your ColdFire MCF5213 project.
The evaluation board contains an embedded P&E USB to BDM interface which provides for easy debug and flash programming of the resident ColdFire MCF5213 processor. The processor incorporates 256KB of Flash, 32KBytes of RAM, Digital I/O, ADC, QSPI, PWMs, timers, I²C and more! The processor runs at a system clock speed of up to 80MHZ giving 76MIPS of performance.  A complete GCC compiler and C code development system with a 24Kbyte code limited version of the Package CF Pro is included.

Package CF Pro

The PKG CF Pro package includes a cable, winIDE, Flash programmer along with a GCC compiler for the 5206, 5208, 5211, 5213, 523x, 5249, 5271, 5272, 5275, 5280, 5282 variants and an In Circuit Debugger with examples ready to run "out of the box".

A simple command line assembler adequate for many small applications ( no linker but the source file can have multiple includes).  It provides macros and condition

Integrated Development Environment 

WinIDE is a windows package that includes a configurable text editor and provides the ability to launch a range of other programs from within its centralised operation.  Includes the Assembler.

In Circuit Debugger

A windows package that via the cable provides all the services of a debugger providing as it does access to the contents of variables and registers along with control of the CPU's execution via Breakpoints and Run commands.

Register Explorer

When you display the contents of one of the micros standard registers with the Reg Explorer it shows not just the contents but their Freescale Mnemonic and a brief text description of that state.  When setting values you can choose between valid options for each field and sub field. 

Flash Programmer

Using the BDM cable to interface between a PC and a target processor this windows software package will program either on chip or external flash memory or on chip EEPROM.

Unit programs

A set of C library calls that provide an API for using the BDM interface.  Ideal for those who need to write their own PC based test or diagnostics programs.  The standard version includes a license for 5 units.  The distribution version provides unlimited production of applications.
