It has taken >12 man years of work to create a repository of knowledge on many aspects of the art and science of embedded microprocessor development and even after closing the shop it still gets over 4,000 visitors per month. So as a service to my customers I have decide to keep it live providing my technical insights on the products and then redirecting viewers to sites where they can purchase the items they used to buy from us. The "Information zone" consists of articles produced as background tutorials on subjects of interest to those designing new products. As different CPUs have became available this has lead to new development techniques and in particular to new ways of communicating between nodes.
The PCAN-USB range of interfaces provide simple and cost-effective connections between PCs and CAN-networks.

The small PCAN-USB single channel converter is ideal for use with
PCs laptops or notebooks.
The PCAN-USB Pro provides up to 2 channels of CAN + 2 channels of LIN
And the Hub gives 1 CAN, 2 RS232 + 2 USB ports
All these CAN interfaces support both 11 bit ID and 29 bit ID CAN specifications (CAN 2.0A/B) with a maximum speed of 1MBaud. The CAN-bus connection is via a 9-pin SUB-D plug, whose pin assignments conform to the CiA recommendation. No termination is included in the interface. The PCAN-USB is available with or without Opto-isolation. The minimum Baud rate of the PCAN-USB is 5Kbaud.

PCAN-USB Pro FD Dual CAN, Dual LIN all optoisolated
Up to four connections are available, using appropriate adapter cables (2 x CAN-FD, 2 x LIN). Its robust aluminium casing makes the PCAN-USB Pro FD adapter suitable for mobile applications.
CAN-FD data field rate up to 12Mbits/sec.
The minimum Baud rate of the PCAN-USB FD is 25Kbaud.

PCAN-USB Hub CAN, Dual 232, Dual USB
The PCAN-USB Hub offers the user one CAN, two RS-232, and two further USB interfaces. Its robust aluminium casing makes the PCAN-USB Hub suitable for mobile applications.
Two High-speed USB 2.0 downstream ports
Passive (bus-powered) hub operation through the USB port of a PC enables power consumption of up to 100 mA per USB channel or Active (self-powered) hub operation through the optional external hub power supply (9 – 36 V) enables power consumption of up to 500 mA per USB channel
Guaranteed high bit rates on all channels if a USB Full-speed device is connected, thanks to a hub controller with 4 transaction translator
Supports CAN 2.0A/B up to 1 Mbaud. The minimum Baud rate of the PCAN-USB hub is 5Kbaud.
